At the LA Auto Show
N8 | View from the top of the Toyota booth
Last Sunday I attended the 2011 LA Auto Show. It was pretty crowded and I didn't get to do as much as I would have liked.
N8 | Mitsubishi electric concept
I spent the first hour checking twitter to see the Chargers score. I didn't realize I could just sit in a car and listen to the radio.
N8 | Hot Wheels Hot Rod
Ford had a really cool 5 screen google maps interactive display. I forgot to take a picture of it : (
I noticed most people looked up where they lived. Some people looked up the pyramids in Egypt.
N8 | The Mini Slot machine
What I loved about the Mini booth was this slot machine. The three slots on the screen were projected on the roofs in the background
N8 | There's 2 gigs in that thing

N8 | That Instragram look
I'm not big on camera apps. These are from the Camera Lover Pack. I use them once and forget I installed it. I don't think I've used molome in months.

Happy TARDIS Day
N8 | The TARDIS lands at San Diego Comic Con
48 years ago today, BBC aired the first episode of Doctor Who. I began watching last Summer. That's a lot of catching up to do.

In the window
N8 | Don't Blink
Parked on a street near the Hollywood Improv and saw this window display. Reminds me of a weeping angel from Doctor Who.

Tomorrow
The Steve Allen Theater is the place to be Saturday nights at midnight. Ron Lynch hosts Tomorrow, a variety show that has been running for 6 years now. Last night's show had a performance from the Radioactive Chicken Heads, a pianist, a burlesque dancer, "Jesse Ventura", skits, and lots of standup.
N8 | The Hosts of Tomorrow from Yesterday
The show last night was one of the best. Kate Micucci showed up and sang a song. Brendon Small and Craig Anton showed up and did silly stuff with Ron Lynch and the Doorknockers. There was a stretch where I was laughing for 15 minutes straight.
Tomorrow is dark for December and returns in January.

The Theme Building at LAX
N8 | Encounter Restaurant
Someday I'll go inside. The restaurant used to spin around, that must have been cool.

Toy Run in Little Osaka
Earlier this week I visited a small neighborhood in west Los Angeles some call Little Osaka. I visited the Giant Robot stores and some of the shops. Lots of yummy smells in the area. My main purpose of the visit was to visit the market there.
N8 | Gokaiger candy
The market has Kamen Rider and Super Sentai toys. I can't find this stuff like this when I visit Little Tokyo. I saw some Fourze and Gokaiger toys.
N8 | Gokai Galleon
Inside the box is a little model kit and a piece of candy. Pretty simple toy to make. I definitely need to make another visit.

They Might Be Giants at Amoeba Records
I found out Monday night that They Might Be Giants would be playing a show at Amoeba Records in Hollywood. I got there about an hour early. I found a great spot in the second row. Underneath the record racks was a stool I sat on while I waited.
N8 | In store marquee
N8 | They Might Be Giants
N8 | You can see the drummer in this one
They played for about half an hour. I was very pleased they played Istanbul. They also played Alphabet of Nations. Good times were had.

The Nokia N8: 1 year later
I have been using a service called 4square&7yearsago. It uses the foursquare api and shows me my check-ins from a year ago. This morning I was reminded that my Nokia N8 is now a year old.
N82 | My first hands on
I have really enjoyed using my N8 over the past year. Most of the photos on this blog from the past year were shot with the N8. I am really glad there was a camera ui update for the Symbian Anna release. I switch modes a lot and the update made it easier to do so. I hope a future update makes the camera available from the lock screen.
N97 | N8 and the CR-115
Living in LA, I drive a lot. While most of the time I know where I'm going, I will use Nokia Maps anyway. The newest version has been working well in getting me around traffic spots. It reminds me when I'm speeding so I don't get a ticket. A lot of the time it gives me a weird route, so I disobey the directions. Hearing "route recalculation" is a bit annoying.
N82 | Watching news
I download a lot of podcasts. Watching a lot of video podcasts eats up bandwidth. Some months I use up 10 gigs of data. Glad I have an unlimited plan.
N82 | Belle on a green N8
Updates have been delayed over and over. Belle is due soon, but not here yet. Still, I'm pretty happy with my N8. There's nothing on the market right now that makes me want to change phones.

Kamen Rider Super Sentai Art Show part 3
Also a part of the art show was a henshin contest held in the courtyard of the Japanese American Cultural and Community Center in Little Tokyo.
N8 | Toys for sale
Anime Jungle set up a vendor booth and had plenty of Kamen Rider and Super Sentai stuff for sale. All the good stuff is around $100.
N8 | Takoyaki
Fried octopus balls. There was an episode of Gokaiger centered on takoyaki. I wanted to try some, but I already ate.
N8 | Kamen Rider Bad guys
There were a ton of Kamen Rider costumes at the show.
N8 | Eyeshine
Eyeshine is a local band fronted by Johnny Yong Bosch, who was on a bunch of Power Rangers shows.
N8 | Judges for the Henshin contest
N8 | Henshin contestants
The guys on the right did a cool breakdance skit
N8 | Final three
I loved the Kotoha/Shinkenger cosplay here. The guy in the middle did a great Hurricane Red henshin. The Kamen Rider on the left won the contest.

Kamen Rider Super Sentai Art Show part 2
Here's some Super Sentai art pieces from the exhibit in Little Tokyo.
N8 | The first sentai - Goranger
N8 | The card themed JAKQ
N8 | A very creepy portrait of Gokai Green
N8 | Not sure what series this is from. The helmet designs are Gokaiger, but the suits are original.

Kamen Rider Super Sentai Art Show
Last week I attended the Kamen Rider vs Super Sentai Art Exhibit in Little Tokyo. Here's some of the Kamen Rider highlights
N8 | Kamen Rider Statue
The insides were gutted. There's a coin slot on it, maybe it sings a song with a coin.
N8 | Looks like a recycling effort
N8 | I like the bad guys and their pose
N8 | I have no idea what's going on here
N8 | Magenta

N8 | AT&T Classics
Two weeks ago, I attended the gdgt live event at Club Nokia. Saw some tech demos and got some freebies. Despite the many giveaways, I didn't win any of the Windows Phones they were giving away.
Check out the small photo set here

I changed the address of the rss feed.
