KMFDM - live at The Fonda

2013-03-10-0676.jpg

A few weeks ago I saw KMFDM at the Fonda.  I was disappointed the balcony was closed, meaning I would have to stand all night.  It had been many months since I saw a show at the Fonda and it might be again.  I do not enjoy bathroom attendants and the drinks were overpriced.

KMFDM - Megalomaniac

This was my third time seeing KMFDM.  The first time was back in 97 and Rammstein opened up for them at the Palladium.  I saw them again back in 2006 at the Fonda when Combichrist (sounded nothing like their album) was their opener.  I think the 06 show was better, mainly because they played my favorite song Light.

KMFDM - A Drug Against War

This show wasn't too bad, their new song Kunst is fucking hilarious live.  Being a Sunday night, the attendance seemed a bit low.  I managed to find a great spot along the side to watch the show with little effort.

Brendon Small's Galaktikon - live at The Roxy

2013-03-03-0651.jpg

On the first Sunday of this month, I went to the Roxy for the Wesfest benefit show put on by the Berklee School of Music.  Brendon Small was the headliner, who would be performing his solo album Galaktikon.

Current student and alumni performed through most of the show playing medleys of jazz and contemporary rock.  When it was announced that the show was $3000 short of their fundraising goal, a lady in the booths stood up and waved her checkbook.  Wesfest hit their goal of $25000.

Here is my recording of Brendon Small's performance.  Billed as a one night only event, Small invited 10 other musicians to perform his rock opera Galaktikon from front to back.  I was very pleased to hear a couple of Dethklok songs in the encore.

I recorded the show handheld with my Nokia 808 Pureview.  This is the first time I turned off image stabilization to record a show.  This allowed for a little more zoom.  Although a little bit shaky, I like the results.

The setlist:
