David Byrne and Trent Reznor

On a warm Sunday afternoon in mid-October, I went down to Little Tokyo to see David Byrne and Trent Reznor talk about making music and marketing it on the web.

I got there about 3 hours early to secure a spot up front.  There were already 6 people there.  I held some spots for late arriving friends, which caused drama for the people behind me.

String Theory was the opening act.  They had these large strings hooked up to the balcony that turned the entire theater into an instrument.

I really love this photo.  My Nokia 808 Pureview knocked it out of the park with this one.

David Byrne had been doing a few of these talks with other artists as he toured the nation with St Vincent. Byrne and Reznor talked about making music in the digital age vs the old model of record companies.

Reznor ended up taking over the talk as he talked about his history in online marketing and social media.
