Last August, I visited the Seattle Underground tour at Pioneer Square.

A broken toilet.  Seattle had weird sewage issues back in the day and might turn into fountains if flushed with the tide.

This was a street front from before the Great Seattle Fire of 1889.

After the fire, streets were paved over the old Pioneer Square.

During Prohibition, gambling and liquor were kept in the underground.

An sign for an inn, probably where prostitution occurred.  Taxes paid by prostitutes helped pay for Seattle to become a major city after the fire.

An old mail cart.

Seattle is often by earthquakes.  Rubble was moved into the underground.

Random old junk.

A totem pole at Pioneer Square.  The Pioneer Building has an optical illusion where the windows on third floor is smaller than the second to make it seem taller.
